The Advent of the Video Ipod
The world of the Ipod seems to be one of limitless expansion and creativity. The Apple Ipod has seen itself become an electronic consumer product that has found itself solidified along side other revolutionary items. With the incredible technological advances that are capable with modern electronics, it is no surprise that the Video Ipod has become a reality.
Originally conceived and produced and sold as an audio product, the Apple Ipod allowed for the downloading of songs, music or any other type audio file so that they could be stored on a hard drive. Instead of fumbling with audio cassettes or compact disks, all one had to do was store the audio track as an MP3 file. That was it! This made the Apple Ipod an incredibly convenient product. Now, there is an expansion of the Apple Ipod’s capabilities to include visual uses. That is, the Video Ipod is poised to take the consumer electronics market by storm.
The Video Ipod comes at a time when the portable, miniature DVD player has entered the market (to siphon off customers who did not want to shell out $1,000+ for a laptop computer in order to play DVDs exclusively) The effects that the Video Ipod will have on portable DVD players has yet to be made clear, but it will surely be a dramatic impact. Again, convenience will play a huge role in the growth of popularity and sale figures. It is not just eliminating fumbling around with replacing and exchanging DVDs that will make the Video Ipod attractive; it is also the total elimination of being forced to carry around a stack of DVDs in their carry bags, purses, and under their arms. Needless to say, such a muscle conserving benefit will aid the boost in sales of such a product for many more years to come. Mercifully.
